What's next for Renee Slegers and Arsenal this season?

Arsenal's slow start to the Women's Super League season continued with The Gunners only able to take a point in their home game against winless Birmingham City, leaving them eighth in the table after six games. This result has raised a lot of questions among fans on whether Renee Slegers is the right person for the job anymore, but is that a fair assessment?
Arsenal's X post after their 1-1 draw at home vs Birmingham City
Arsenal have so far had an underwhelming start to their WSL season with them only winning one of their first six games in the competition, which has now become their worst ever start in their history.
Another damning statistic for The Gunners is that for the first time in their history, they have gone five games without a win, with their last win in the competition coming in their opening league game of the season against Brighton in a 1-0 win away from home.
Before the season, Renee Slegers and her staff would have been hoping to compete for the title this season to bring the WSL back to The Emirates for the first time since 2019 after missing out on the title to Manchester City by just four points last season.

Arsenal's poor start to the season has come with some confusion especially after they made some good acquisitions throughout the summer, signing stars such as midfielder Georgia Stanway, two-time UEFA Women's Champions League winner Ona Batlle and Selina Cerci who scored 16 goals in back-to-back seasons for TSG Hoffenheim.
Despite these signings Arsenal have struggled to find the back of the net, with them only scoring five goals so far this season, only two more than newly promoted Charlton who have scored the least so far.
Renee Slegers' side will next face Tottenham away from home on 24 October, with Arsenal winning four of their last five matches against Tottenham in the WSL, this could be a defining game in their season so early on as it could leave them 12 points behind a UEFA Women's Champions League place already, depending on results in other games.
Yet at this time, I think it would be a poor decision from the Arsenal board to replace Slegers at this moment after what she has done for the club, she won The Gunner's first Women's Champions League since the 2006/07 season and their first FIFA Women's Champions Cup in 2026.
Although if The Gunners are unable to get a result out of the game against Tottenham, that could be the end of Slegers time at the club after signing a deal until 2029 in January 2026.
